So, I've been doing a fair share of reading on the Hannoverian dynasty, and stumbled upon something that I found to be quite interesting. In 1788, George III fell ill, with what appeared to be the first signs of madness that would later lead to the regency. His son George, later George IV, was currently unmarried, though technically he had secretly married his mistress Miss Fitzhubert. What might've happened had George III died in 1788, and his son ascended the throne? Would George IV have publically announced his marriage to Fitzhubert? How might this shape his reign, considering he was massively in debt almost constantly.
