George H.W. Bush stays in Connecticut

I meant George. Anyway, the only VP I can think for Reagan is Dole.

Won't be George. He took a stand against Vietnam, which is why he lost the bid for the nomination in 1968. Vietnam is just a few short years ago in 1980. People will remember and use his public comments about the war against him. It won't work.

I am sorry, I didn't know who he was.
Paul Laxalt was a good personal friend of Ronald Reagan. He was Governor of Nevada from 1967 to 1971 and was senator of that state from 1975 to 1987. He was Reagan's first choice for VP in 1980 but instead he choose Bush. In hindsight maybe he should have picked Laxalt.

He actually sounds pretty awesome, tell me more. I may make a Presidential TL after 1960 in The Map Thread, and I may select Laxalt to be VP in 1984.

Back on topic, Who does Dubya marry in this TL?

What about Neil Bush?
He is considered the "most charming" of the Bush brothers. If dad doesn’t move to Texas then Neil will not get involved in oil or in Silverado or in the Savings & Loan Crisis. It was the S&L Crisis that torpedoed Neil’s political ambitions.

In this ATL Neil never got involved in big oil or had anything to do with the S & L fiasco. Right after graduating from college in the 1970's his older brother George helped get him a job down in Wall Street specifically in banking. He eventually joined Citicorp and worked his way up the ladder to upper middle management and by the end of 1990 he made to the position department VP. In January 1991 he bacame State Treasurer for Connecticut under Governor Lowell Weicker. And four years later was made State Comptroller by his brother Governor George W.
As I mentioned in an earlier post he made an unsucessful bid for the Senate to fill his father's seat in 1998. He stayed on as State Comtroller until early 2001 when he stepped down to take a job as Senior Vice President and CFO(Chief Financial Officier) at what is now Citigroup. He soon becomes Chief Operation Officer(COO), then Chairman and finally in 2007 he becomes Chairman of the Board and CEO. He also serves as chief economic advisor to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, and if Romney is elected president this November he will most likely to be appointed as Secretary to the Treasury in a Romney Administration.
For the sake of reference purposes here are the list of Presidents and Vice Presidents in this ATL starting in 1988:

Paul Laxalt, Pres./Dick Luger,VP 1989-1997
Dick Luger/Phil Gramm - 1997-2001
Dick Gephardt/ Evan Bayh - 2001-2009

The main presidential nominees for this year's election are:
Evan Bayh, Democratic & Mitt Romney, Republican

One final note: Beacuse there wasn't a Clinton Administration Robert Rubin never becomes Secretary of the Treasury, instead he stays on at Goldman & Sachs where he becomes Chairman & CEO in 1998 after Jon Corzine steps down. He stays on Chairman & CEO for 10 years and only just recently announced his retirement for that position effective October 1at of this year.
