Ok I don't really want to feel like I'm plugging my work here, but I though the question was interesting enough to warrant a thread.

Reading the Lives of the Queens of Scotland and English Princesses I've stumbled upon a little thing that got my attention (its at page 94, but you should be able to see it following the link), apparently in 1570 it was proposed by William Cecil that Mary Stuart marrying George Carey the son of Elizabeth cousin and brining her back to the throne, the idea died pretty quickly, but could it have been done and if so what would have been the consequence?
