Geological Timebomb Goes Off

The year is 1783, the Treaty of Paris has been signed.

In the Canary Islands the southern volcanoe on the island of La Palma erupts with explosive power. The entire western cliff drops into the sea, triggering a tsumani that races over the breadth of the Adlantic.

A wave of 500 meters hight hits the American eastern seaboard, with Boston hit first then New York, down all the 13 colonies towns up to 20km inland are washed away. The wave hits Florida and then into the Caribean, effecting all the islands there with devistating effects.

My question is: What happens next?

This has been discussed a few times before. IIRC the last time it was discussed, several users came up with some pretty convincing arguments behind why the La Palma megatsunami is more pseudoscientific theories than based in actual fact.
