geographic divides that inform lifestyle differences

just a place to talk about environmental factors that affect how a culture puts bread on the table and meet other basic needs like shelter.

so for example in my home island of britain, there is a pronounced north south cultural divide, a factor in this divide is the agricultural land use. the lands in the north being more marginal raised land with poorer soils and the south being more fertile flat lowland.

inspired by the world building of the medieval america project also

Yet it's always more complex than that.

Parts of the south are good heavy clay soils, others sandy, and others on thin soil over chalk.
In Dorset we have all three.

Yet go further west and you hit granite country

North South divide is more a political thing and a historic product of different peoples.

Jungles. BIG divider.

Jungle Soil makes agriculture impossible unless you practice constant Coivára (forest fires) and keep moving, you know how to make the soil proper (as in, Terra Preta) or you eventually learn another way to do agriculture properly.
