Geograpgic Changes

hey. im considering another project of mine in which the continents stay in the same general place that they are today (though maybe some parts of continents are broken off to form new, smaller continents), though the geography and environments can be changed. partly inspired by a couple of turtledove's works, two of these changes are that the mediterranean never becomes a sea and is instead a dry canyon and that eastern america breaks off millions of years before and becomes the continent of atlantis. another idea is that the sahara never dries out and, instead of a huge desert, a giant rainforest (not necessarily a tropical one, though) stands in its place.

any ideas for what else i could do with this world?

No idea-changes that far back would be so enormous that they coukdn't be clasified as alternate history. Jeez, humans might not even evolve.

how about the caspian and the black sea remain attached, and north america and south america never connect, but remain very close together.

First off, it belongs in ASB or, if you want collaboration, Sandbox.

That said:

Sweden and Denmark marge. Baltic becomes a forested lowland with a freshwater lake.

Japan is a peninsula linked to Korea.

Australia is broken up into roughly Borneo-sized sections.

Hawaii hotspot is bigger. Leads to an island somewhere between Ireland and Brittania in size.

American Great Plains as shallow, warm, saltwater sea.

Whilst I agree this belongs in ASB,:

Bavaria is a plateau as high as the Tibetan Plateau, and the Alps resemble the Aleutians.

Holland and Southern England are shallow seas,

There are more Antarctic Islands making a chain from South America to Australia on which fauna can go across.

The Puerto Rico Subduction Zone Creates a Mountain range that connects Puerto Rico to Cuba to Florida up into South Carolina

Geographical what-ifs are pretty much straddling the line of ASB and Pre-1900. Basically, it comes down to how serious you are with working with them. Assume the existance of the human species? Most people can get onboard with that, I think. But you pretty much have to write off established history, and create with real broad brushstrokes.

But I think speculation along the lines of "where would the centres of civilization be?", "what kind of cultures and civilizations are likely to develop in what regions?" or even "where is the most likely place to kickoff an industrial revolution?" are kosher without being ASB. But things like "the Sahara is a rainforest: How does this effect the Punic Wars?" and it's off the deep end.
