In 1951 General Douglas MacArthur was relieved of his command due to his contradicting statements with the Truman Administrations Policies. At the time he was a household name across the world and was one of the most popular generals in US history. The statements and beliefs that got him removed from his command were about policies and restraint of the US in the Korean War. This all came to ahead when 6th of April that year Truman ordered that MacArthur be relieved of his duties and command be handed to a successor.
What would have happened if MacArthur had refused and in this version, instead of having the Joint Chiefs appose him, support him instead and MacArthur, being aware that Truman was having these discussion moved first?
Could he had achieved it and if so what is the outcome for America if he had?
