Galla Placidia murdered?

What if Sigeric not only killed her son and wounded her husband, but in a fit of rage killed the Emperor's half sister at the same time. The Honorius would probably be totally enraged, and would probably deploy Constantius to avenge her death.

If he is able to actually wipe out the Goths (Constantius had raised the Western army to it's near peak, and had successfully blockaded the Goths.) I think any Gothic remainders will join the Suevic Kingdom of Galacia, along with the other Germanic cast offs of Western Europe.

The next question is who will be in line for the empire? Constantius looks promising but despite his successes in the battle field, he won't have Galla to marry to gain legitimacy. So he likely won't be declared Co-emperor. Meanwhile for Theodosius II in the east, I don't think he would really have the legal authority to place a Theodosian on the throne through force.

So that leaves the election Joannes a bureaucrat, who would basically be a puppet in the game of Generallissimos throughout the provinces. Comitatus Boniface in Africa, might be the next great power over the throne. While young Aetius will begin to make his alliance with the Huns.
