After the CSA gains it's independence, how will it's military hardware develope?

Does Tredegar do most of the work still, or does Browning still come to Georgia in the 1880s, and the CS has 2 large ironworks revolutionizing the industry? Does the CSA take after Britain in weapons design (Enfield in particular) or France?

What about rifle calibers? How do they differ from the Union? How do Confederate gattling and machine guns look?

The Confederate Navy would probably lean more towards the French Jeune École theory of naval operations, since it would never be able to stand up to the United States Navy in a fight. The Confederacy also inflicted a significant amount of damage to American commerce during the Civil War, so they might develop something similar on their own.

Good point, a CS victory (depends) could guarantee the completion of a new CSS Arkansas.

Not to mention somewhere around 2 dozen Confederate iron clads, several blockade runners and numerous other steamers, gunboats and cruisers would be in perfect shape or under construction by the time of victory.

Will the CSA build on the model of the HL Hunley and start on submarines?
