View attachment 732689Map of the UCSSR (Union of Co-operative Soviet Socialist Republics), 2080.

The UCSSR is the successor to the USSR, which technically ‘collapsed’ in 1991. This ‘collapse’ was caused by the government of Mikhail Gorbachev, who sought to reform the Soviet Union‘s economy and structure. He, unlike our timeline, also wanted to keep the Soviet Union alive, rather than letting it break up. He created a successor to the USSR, which would be stronger economically and would be focused on co-operation. In December 1991, Gorbachev formally declared the independence of all three Baltic nations and Georgia, as these four preferred a Western-style economy. This was the UCSSR’s beginning.

Gorbachev’s policy of co-operation meant many other sovereign states became willing to join the Union. Mongolia joined in 1998; Afghanistan in 2003, after it had crushed all rebels across the nation; North Korea joined in 2016 due to a national desire to be protected from the USA and the Republic of Korea, which under the leadership of the nationalistic man Seon Jin-yun, was leaning towards restarting the Korean War in a bid to annex the DPRK.

Unfortunately, after Gorbachev’s death in 2025, a new movement arose in the UCSSR; the Red Expansionist Movement (REM). They wanted to annex certain areas shown in orange on the map above. They continue to exist to this day, and with new government reforms that have proved unpopular with the people, these new communist nationalists, led by Mikhail Vardonev, are ever closer to declaring a New Red Order…
So are the Baltics and such somehow not in NATO or is this new UCSSR planning to go directly to conflict with NATO?

To be honest with you, I haven’t actually thought about that, but I‘d say the Baltics are perhaps somewhat closer to the UCSSR because of the smooth transition in the 90s and the fact that the two sides have a number of trade deals between them. The UCSSR also has something similar to a ”Good Neighbour Policy” which incorporates the Baltics since it’s a tiny bit more resemblant to the USA than the old USSR. And on top of that, the UCSSR has an equivalent of the CSTO called the CPSDA (Collaborative Post-Soviet Democratic Alliance), which all three Baltic countries are part of. Therefore, I wouldn’t think they’d be in NATO, instead co-operating more with their shared eastern neighbour.

Also keep in mind that the REM is not in power yet. They’re more traditional and therefore their ideology is like a light version of Stalinism. If they came to power, they’d change a lot of things in the UCSSR, making it more like a second USSR. They’d just spread all the usual communist propaganda and persuade the Baltics to join the Union.

(It might be a bit unrealistic but I’m learning. Apologies to all Latvians, Lithuanians and Estonians on this forum.)

The Amazon Rainforest becomes a protected international zone for its "preservation" and "restoration". (Macron's wet dream)

Maybe the South Americans that are here in the forum can answer better than me, but in my opinion this WOULD get a lot of people not pitchfork angry, but ALGERIAN WAR style angry and WOULD PISS OFF ALL of the members of ALL POLITICAL SPECTRUMS in those countries if it even reaches a UN discussion room. Besides Macron is probably the last person who should talk about taking ANOTHER COUNTRY sovereign territory considering how behaves in Francophone Africa and he does not even have the interests of the working classes of France as his priority.

Edit : also it could be interpreted as current politics.

I don't see how it could be current politics considering it isn't related to anything going on currently. Either way, the people from those countries would just burn the whole thing down before handing it over.

I wouldn't blame them for even entertaining the thought if it comes something like that...

How did we get billions to live in space in just a century!? Even with a super charged space race, it still seems very odd.

*Apologies for necromancy BTW.
necromancer you bring me back from the shadows at a very convenient time because i'm actually reworking the setting because the scope of expansion and population numbers didn't make sense, every area had too many people except the moon which had too few, so i'm condensing most stuff to cissaturnine space (because something else is residing in saturn) and reducing all populations (except the lunar one which i'll increase)
here's a small piece of the map, the moon's population is the second highest in the entire solar system (minus earth)
