Future George II weds Princess Hedvig Sophia

King George I of England wanted his son, Prince George Augustus to have the opportunity of meeting his bride before any formal arrangements were made.
Negotiations from 1702 for the hand of Princess Hedvig Sophia of Sweden, Dowager Duchess and regent of Holstein-Gottorp, came to nothing.
Hedvig Sophia was the daughter of King Charles XI and Queen Ulrica Eleanor of Sweden.

Suppose Hedvig Sophia does not marry Frederick IV, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp in 1698.
She and Prince George Augustus marry.

She was already married and widowed by the time the proposal came through. The reason why Hedvig might not be a good consort is because she took up with a certain gentleman (everyone at the Swedish court knew about the affair apparently) and might make her an awkward mirror of Georg's wife/mother.

However, Hannover siding with Sweden as a prospective result of the marriage has interesting possibilities.
