So in this ATL, the Tang Dynasty never suppresses Buddhism, so just before its collapse, China fully converts to the new faith, which would change to Confucian Buddhism due to the influence of the previous Confucian faith in China before conversion. This would enable China to be far more liberal, dynamic, and expansionist, a lot like Europe after the Reformation. This would accelerate Chinese technology, culture, progressiveness, education, and set up the means for Industrialization. This could lead to a number of curious and fascinating developments within the Dynasty and the surrounding states which will be discussed on the ATL Thread. There doesn't need to be an endpoint, but the earliest that this TL can begin at is 1000 CE where it will continue from there.
