Fun with monarchies!

I've mentioned this once:

Carlos IV manages to flee with his family to the Americas when Godoy suggested him to do, in 1808. Then after Napoleon's fall he is restored to the throne instead of his son. As pro-independence movements begin to grow in the colonies, some of their leaders manage to contact with Charles' sons (some of them could have remained in America as viceroys) and win them for the cause. By Carlos' death in 1819 there is an Empire of Mexico, an Empire of Peru and probably a Kingdom of New Granada.

Christophe succeeds in his ambition of uniting Hispaniola under the kingdom of Haiti, and places his most competent son as heir.

The Kingdom Haiti with British support becomes an authortarian but econmically prosperous and relatively stable nation under the Christophe dynasty. The precedent being set for the King to chose an heir from his children rather than birth order.

There is trouble with the Dominicans with language and sometimes race divide resulting in two insurrections. Butr the efficent Haitian army and assistance from the RN sees them soundly crushed.

The educated masses of Haiti are divided between monarxhists who view thge iron rod as the ideal form of government based on the econmic success and loylaty to the institution and the libertadores, who while not opposing thew monarcht favor a devoltion of power. This conflict will widen as the 20th century draws near and the ascension of a less effective king.
