Friedrich Ebert lives longer

Ebert was the very first president of the Weimar Republic until his sudden death in 1925 of appendicitis. This triggered the 1925 elections which brought Hindenburg to power. Apparently, he neglected his developing appendictis because he spended all of his energies on politics and he was sued by the right-wingers for participating in a strike in 1918.

Let's say he undergoes surgery which either curbs his appendictis or cures him from it, what next? I've heard that the original election was scheduled for 1926, who will win?

Hmm... essentially a social democrat, but viewed by many on the left as a betrayer due to his use of the Freikorps against the Spartacist uprising.

He's an interesting figure, the trouble is I really have no idea how 1925 would go! He was also at best a reluctant republican, if that helps.

(all from here).

Presidential elections were due in June 1925. With Ebert alive, Hindenburg would be elected nevertheless.
But in 1932, Ebert could replace Hindenburg as candidate of the "Weimar Coalition".

What makes you so sure of that?

In the first 1925 ballot, Otto Braun, the SPD candidate, got 7.8 million votes compared to 10.4 million for Dr. Jarres, the right wing contestant.
In the second ballot it was 13.75 million for Dr. Marx, democratic contender (backed by Zentrum, SPD, and DDP), against 14.85 for Hindenburg, right wing nominee (backed by NSDAP, DVP, DNVP, and BVP).
In both ballots, the democrats failed because the communists insisted on their own candidate, Ernst Thälmann, who got 1.87 (first) and 1.93 (second) million votes.

In the 1932 presidential election, Hindenburg was the democrats' contender (backed by Zentrum, SPD, DNVP, DVP, DStP, BVP) against Hitler (NSDAP)and Thälmann (KPD). In the second ballot, H. scored 19.36 million votes compared to Hitler's 13.42 and Thälmann's 3.71.

I´m not sure you could just add the communist votes, a people´s front would have alienated much of the Zentrum and DDP support, especially in those areas where the DDP successfully surpressed a functioning DVP coming into existence.

Exactly.

And we're not talking about Otto Braun, we're talking about Ebert. Yes, they were both in the SPD, but it seems that Ebert had more experience in government than Braun. That may count for something.
