French invasion preparations?

I'm just reading "If Britain had Fallen" by Norman Longmate. The part involving the successful Sea Lion is, of course, implausible, but it goes into some detail about what happens afterwards (I haven't got very far into that bit yet.) It got me thinking: did the French have any preparations for if their country was overran, e.g. setting up resistance groups in advance? (Obviously, there was de Gaulle's Free French.) This is a topic that I know nothing about.

And please, people, spare us the inevitable attacks on any discussion of Sea Lion related themes. Speculation on how a sucessful invasion would play out is irrelevant to whether or not the invasion could suceed in the first place

Actually this thread has nothing to do with Sealion. AS the OP clearly states its all about what the French put in place. You would be better placed to requst posters to forego the inevitable cheese eating surrender monkey themes;)

As for French preparations, I am not aware of any. The french political scene was so fractured pre the 1940 fall that no government would have had the time or the political will to make those kind of preparations. If memory serves the resistance that did spring up was based around political affiliation rather than prepared units.

But my knowledge is by no means exhaustive here, so I would be interested if anyone knows differently.

Well, they were expecting a WWI battlefield and their country not being overrun. If they had expected France to be overrun, then they'll probably had taken more effective measures to stop the blitzkrieg and improve their army doctrine.
I mean, they didn't understand the effectiveness of a well comunicated modern armoured force with supporting motorized infantry and tactical bombers. Had they understood it, they would have developed that on their own.

Point taken. Pardon my uncontrollable knee-jerking
