French Caribbean and Pacific Territory for Aircraft

Two things worth bearing in mind.

Firstly the conspiracy (and I do not judge it's accuracy) theory is that the right wing wanted to lose the Battle of France to blame the left wing for the loss and make France a more Fascist and Catholic country with the government being controlled by the right wing. They expected something like the 1870 war with France being left unoccupied in return for a major reparation bill. Thus they wanted to retain sufficient military power to take over from the existing government.

The other thing is that France did more than cease to be an ally in 1940. It became a useful assistant to the Axis. Britain fought naval actions off Morocco and Algeria against the French Navy and Air Force. It fought land wars in Syria, Lebanon, Gabon and Madagascar as well as failed assaults on Senegal and being bombed in Gibraltar.

Many existing French orders for weapons were transferred to Britain after the fall of France. Would the USA have refused to do this and delivered them to France in accordance with any agreement as per the thread?

Additional statehood just isn't practical. Hawaii and alaska were added as a result of their role in the war, something these islands would not enjoy.

Puerto rico is a result of ethno-linguistic prejudice against statehood, native division over the issue, and their economic weakness relative to even the poorest states ... all these factors exist vis a vis the rest of thecarribbean.

After several failed tries dating back to 1967, Puerto Ricans voted for the first time to become a state in 2012. The plebiscite was nonbinding. The US has given PR the right to chose their status. That needs to end either become a State or become independent.
