French-Burgundian-Spain Scenario

Mary of Burgundy marries Louis XI

Since I worked on the Brittany-Burgundy union scenario, I think this wank is not ASB

Margaret of Scotland lives longer and dies on 1465, but the marriage was childless, then Louis XI decides to remarry and this time he courted Mary of Burgundy and married her and had a child named Philip who married Isabella the daughter of Isabella of Castille which starts a Valois dynasty in Spain and Spain is united with France for a while.

Margaret of Scotland lives longer. Okay.

Louis marries Mary of Burgundy. Okay, this is where consequences start happening. Assuming for discussion's sake that it is accepted so the marriage and son happen at all.

Namely, how do the people who would be impacted react? Is Isabella the only child of Isabella and Ferdinand? Are both Aragon and Castile-Leon willing to accept this? Keeping in mind that the two as "Spain" is a personal union, not a single kingdom, at this point.

There is a fair chance for the opportunity, such as it is, to unite all of this to collapse, and for it not to do so requires addressing all the pesky issues.

Ignoring butterflies and similar to focus on the specific problems of "Okay, so Louis marries Mary, now what?" - which is enough to make this scenario trickier to make work than to simply write.

I am trying to say, I think a latin union is possible by this scenario especially if John of Asturias dies on schedule.

Its possible, but it seems like things would happen between the POD and Philip's birth that would complicate things.

There's no way that this Latin Union, if it actually formed and could hold itself together, would not claim for itself the legacy of the Romans. Expect some nasty wars in Italy.
