Frederick II's approval

Christoph, Baron von Reibnitz (1686-1757) was childless.
He adopted his cousin, Gottfried Diprand von Reibnitz (born 1729).
Christoph had to receive the approval of King Frederick II of Prussia.
Why was the approval of Frederick II necessary?

I believe that this is due to the land controlled by Christopher, Baron von Reibnitz, was within the kingdom of Prussia, meaning that the adopted person, would then be the new Baron, and would have to get on with the monarch.

Think of it like this, if the adopted person was a member of the Hasburg family, King Frederick II would have to make sure this new Baron would not start trouble within his own kingdom.

It is simply protocol, to make sure only ally of the kings will work for him.
