franz has a second son, rudolf has a son

Oh? What makes you say that any son of rudolf would also be shut out of political stuff by old grandad, would this be the case even if he were a conservative? And this is very true, would Stefan be excluded from the political side of things also? And as regards Maximilian should he return from Mexico what role would he play in Austria?

Rudolf was jealously excluded by Franz Josef (similar to what Fritz and Vicky were in Berlin), his dad thought he was 'too liberal' and too 'pro-Hungarian' just like his mama. Which is a shame, cause what I've read is that this only served to make Rudi's depression worse, which was then aggravated by Erszi's birth, the fact that he couoldn't have more children, plus his political impotency as an ornament. As to a grandson/Stefan being shut out, I don't see why the emperor wouldn't do it - when he did it with both Rudolf and Franz Ferdinand OTL (I'd include Karl, but by that point the man was pretty old and tired, so I'm not sure he would've had the (de.) lust to bother with Karl when he'd been "manfully holding the empire together" (as one bio put it) alone for so long).

Isn't Charlotte too young to mary D.Pedro II? It muito ght be possible to get FJ second soon to mary princess Isabel and become emperor of Brazil, beng a Habsburg would havemade him a lot more palateble than a french prince.

This is in reference to 2 other threads @VVD0D95 has going where he posits the survival and return of Max from Mexico, as well as D. Pedro II being left a widower in the mid-1850s, and remarrying to Charlotte of Belgium, and having kids (including a son) with her. I also suggested that Franz Josef's brother should marry Princess Isabel (as what Maximilian originally planned as emperor of Mexico; the idea of marrying Charlotte elsewhere is that Max gets his Bragança infanta bride, who may or may not give him kids, Charlotte marries Pedro II)

Ah, man what is it with Emperors and their decision to exclude their heirs during this period? Fucking retarded if you ask me aha.

If Franz had died in say 1888, similar to when Wilhelm I died, would that have potentially prevented Rudolf's spiral into full blown suicide? Especially if he had a son he needed to teach to be heir also?
