An idea a few of us were kicking around over at https://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=143279.

What if in the postwar world, Franco's Spain built a modern arms industry and started supplying some of the people the United States was afraid to touch. Not in and of itself a big deal, but the butterflies could be huge. A few of the people Spain might supply with weapons:

South Korea- See the thread above. General consensus is a very different Korean War.
Haiti- Close enough to Cuba to be worth getting worked up about. Imagine the Tonton Macoutes with automatic rifles.
South Vietnam: Immediately after the French pullout, Spain moves in? Doable?
Nicaragua: Somoza likes weapons!
Portugal: Helicopters and armor might have made a difference in Namibia and Angola.
South Africa: Assuming the above doesn't butterfly away the Border War, might be provided with arms above the embargo to use against
Cuba.
Eritrea: Assuming butterflies don't do away with the Derg. Same goes for Afghanistan, I suppose.

Basically, the idea is that Spain becomes a sugar daddy for far right movements everywhere. Depending on feedback, I might eventually do a TL.

Thoughts?
