First thread pls forgib but I need some feedback

I'm working on a potential timeline where the war of Spanish succession culminates in a unified French-Spanish empire under a Bourbon monarch (Philip I?).

I am at a loss as to what exactly could lead to a FrancoSpanish victory of the War of Spanish Succession, I don't want to change any more than the decisions of a few people if possible.

I will focus on north america, as the lack of British dominance would certainly rewrite the continent in a major way. Iroquois autonomy, no louisiana purchase, independant Acadia, independant yet tiny America, Spanish west coast from BC to Chile, imperialism into the modern era, no French revolution etc..

Maybe a Bourbon-Hapsburg marriage in the 16th or 17th century?

This power would basically rule Europe and would be unchallengeable on the continent come to think of it.

Even this is too late.

The balance of powers between France and Spain was such and they had had such a history of confrontation since the very last years of 15th century that it can’t succeed.

You need a POD no later than the castilan civil war between the supporters of Joan the Beltraneja and those of Isabella the catholic.

Charles VIII is a claimant to the Aragonese throne.

i suppose some sort of internal strife within the Hapsburg empire there would be no one to oppose France on land, or you could perhaps have Blenheim be a disaster and Britain/England would not risk another land offensive. you have numerous potential PODs that could get Phillip on both thrones. the only problem i see is i don't know how without major changes you can get British dominance out of north america. Also with french control over the former Spanish colonies why would France be interested in keeping its presence in north america?

Make Louis XV died in 1719, then a court and legal fight betwen the duke of Maine and d'Orlean up to 1721 (I know that Maine was allready defeted by this time but he may try somethink and Orlean is not very popular), then Phillipe get involved in favour of one of them, then he is get the crown. Now how the ther country react is another questions the fight will be harsh but it is not impossible

Ooh, I didn't really consider that. It would made pushback from Austria and the house of Castille less intense probably, would definitely help legitimize the new monarchy.
