Was the Franco-Prussian war truly destined to happen at some point? If so, what is the reasoning behind this? How long could such a conflict be delayed to, at the maximum?
If not, then was the war just the result of a random Casus Belli, with little to no underlying tension? Or were France and Prussia just both looking for a fight? If the latter is true, who else might they have fought with instead of each other?
