Franco-German war 1920s

France easily wins and imposes an even worse peace on Germany. The Ruhrkampf was a disaster for Germany. The economy was in complete collapse because of hyperinflation. The country was also fragmenting as a result. You had Hitler and Ludendorff leading a coup in Bavaria, and the Communists seizing control of Leipzig and Saxony with plans to revolt in November and take the government (which was cancelled as the rentenmark stabilized the currency).

Germany no longer had an effective army at this point, and mobilizing veterans of the Great War and the Freikorps won't stop the French Army. France can seize anything vital and ignore the rest. Once German military resistance begins, France maybe needs a month to cross the Rhine and drive to Berlin. Plus, if France invades, then it is possible Poland will intervene as well to secure the lands it did not receive via treaty or plebiscite in Upper Silesia and East Prussia.

Unless France commits great atrocities in stopping any guerrilla resistance, it can probably take any measure it wants to defeat an insurrection.

By 1923, Germany was exhausted from 4 years of brutal war, the revolution, Spartakist rebellions and Freikorps coups, and a deteriorating currency. It doesn't have the means for an ongoing fight. The German war effort will likely collapse quickly.

Once their forces are inside Germany, they can probably seize whatever reparations they want like the Soviets did in 1945. Mobilized soldiers can seize a lot of industrial plant and machine tools as well as raw materials. They will also likely get international support to set up a Rhine Republic. Likely political terms will be harsher than Versailles.

Internally, Germany will be in absolute political chaos with almost every political faction discredited.

Why do we think guerilla wars are so strong ? Name one that has been successful without significant external support ? (and without destroying the county is was fought in ?)

Ireland, it won its war of independence based on guerrilla tactics

No, they lost.
British simply decided Ireland wasn't worth it, and left despite winning militarily. If they were more bloodthirsty, they could "have Ireland, with or without the Irish".

It all depends on whether France has will to occupy Germany. If they do, Germany is going to be occupied. And pay for it.
