France in Mittel Europa?

Someone made a really good thread about the destiny of Lithuania in a german WWI victory setting (https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/lithuania-in-the-mitteleuropa.444580/), and I read here that a defeated France would be unable to be a threat to german domination ever again settling on middle power status. So I was wondering how would France develope in such circustances?
They would do the same as OTL Nazi Germany. Rearm and try to gain a powerful ally (Russia or Britain). They would go against Germany a second time because Alsace-Lorraine. They would never ally to the Germans because of that.

I doubt it. They lost twice to germany by WW2, I’d doubt they’d want to try again

Because Alsace-Lorraine? Really?

Even after winning WW1, there were those who wondered if it was worth it for France to be a great power and whether joining the German sphere of influence would be worthwhile. After losing WW1, even when allied with BOTH Britain and Russia, becoming a medium power on a German continent seems even more sensible.
