Wow, the Founding Fathers sure cast aside the principles behind their revolution in a hurry. Consuls, Kings, and Emperors, oh my! Its nice to see that while they couldn't form "a more perfect union" they could resolve the western land claims issue so amicably and move so quickly to establish territories. Would you please draw a map so we can see the lay of the land? Thanks.

Eeeeeeeeehhh I just have aproblem with the use of Emperor. That entitles having a Empire.

Well im trying to make it more realistic, sorry about the map, it was a used one from the game so I didnt notice, since in the game we are already in 1802.

I like it. And I disagree, this isn't blatantly ASB, just very, very unlikely. I thought there was some people who wanted to have a Kingdom rather than a Republic. Although, what is the POD? Why did the USA fail?

Well im not sure what the POD woud be they just decide to stay seperated. Anyways next update either today or tommorow.

Not totally ASB as a whole, though parts are a real stretch.

I can't see a "screaming liberal" like Franklin accepting a crown, for example. Washington either.

The Maine border is far too modren OTL (research the ongoing border dispute with Britain).

Also, much more info is needed on why the union fell apart, how border disputes over the west were resolved (VA just gave up claim to the entire northwest? GW himself had land speculations in *Ohio, for example), and why different states chose different governments.

Has potential if done right, but I highly recommend some serious research or the old timers will eat you alive here.

Yes, there have been previous posts on this topic, but they never go anywhere. Usually, there is a war in New England due to boarder disputes, and then some New England Union. While I don't think the states would be too aggresive with each other, the West territory disputes could turn ugly.

The Fractured America

1783-1784

Reasons for disunion:

During one of the first meetings of the Continental Congress, an idea came up of have all the colonies as allies, but as separate nations. Many did not agree with many things, as in where the capitol should be, how should the government be formatted, ect. This only fueled the idea of separate nations. At one point, after much talk many wanted their colonies to be separate nations. They began using the word independence to show that they should be independent, and finally after a long night of bickering, it was decided that every nation would be independent except for Maryland and Delaware who agreed to join as Delmar.

The decisions over who would get what in the west:

When the topic of the western territories arrived, a whole new line of fighting and bickering arose. South and North Carolina fought over who should get more, South Carolina fighting to get land higher than its colonial height, and North Carolina trying to get lower. At one point, proposal maps began to be drawn up. Many ended with no’s from many. Some had no’s even after accepted. A huge problem was that the states that couldn’t touch the west where mad because they wouldn’t be able to get any new land. This upset came mostly from New Jersey. Finally George Walton, president of Georgia, proposed a map, and had a vote.

It came up 7 okay with it, and 5 against it. In the end though Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Connecticut agreed with the terms, which then led New Jersey to agree as well. The only one then opposed to it was George Washington of Virginia, but after an hour he succumbed to the borders, and they were accepted.

It reflects the US claim until 1842. (Doesn't it?)

Yea...that what it represents.

Yeah... but that's just the claim not the border; if you think Britain* is going to be afraid to lean on Massachusetts...

*Canada there in pre-1800? No, just - no.

EDIT: Also, the western claims are going to be contested by the natives, who I highly suspect are going to get some British aid. Manifest Destiny split 12 ways will be slow, slow, slooow; it's entirely possible none of the "USAmerican" states will ever reach the Pacific.

I understand that Canada isnt suppose to be there, and its not because I didnt know it wasnt formed yet, the problem was that I used a more in the future map that had Canada there, and I havent taken it out. Also of course the indians arent going to be happy, and of course they are going to fight. Also Mass, being more of a Federalist state, will soon have good relations with Britain, of course after some time.

Oh and yes, none of the will reach the Pacific, thats what I'm trying for.
