Roman Polanski made the classic "Chinatown", released '74, & Nicholson a sequel, "The Two Jakes" in 1990, with a third film cancelled after "Jakes" didn't do well.
WI Polanski had decided on a sequel in '75 or '76? Would it have been at all similar to "Jakes"? Would it have been a success? Successful enough for a third film? Or was "sequel mania" not dominant enough in Hollywood then to lead to a sequel?
Any thoughts?
