I had actually forgotten about this. But I digress.
Part 1: The Early Life And Times of Arthur Hitler
Arthur Hitler was born on April, 20, 1889, in Waterville, Wisconsin. Waterville was where many Austrian immigrants like his parents, who had taken the names Alfred and Clara Hitler, lived. Arthur had shown very few interests at a young age, but one that was constant was drawing. Around Waterville, he became known for his drawings. But his alcoholic father did not approve. Alfred was very abusive to his son and had wanted him to enter the Civil Service, like he had done in Austria.
He had also read of the many Germanic heroes, including his namesake King Arthur, supposedly an Anglo-Saxon who had lived in early Anglo-Saxon England. Arthur's work began to show Germanic influences. As Waterville was near an area with many German immigrants, this only won him more plaudits.
In McGuffey's Readers, he found a kindred soul who shared his quasi-Calvinist views on hard work and the value of it and his lesser known views on the Jews and their rejection of Jesus. However, he slowly began to reject Jesus himself, saying, "Why should we believe in the values of a man who lived thousands of years ago."
