For Want of a Goose - A world without the Roman Empire

For Want of a Goose

The fall of Rome, 363 years after its foundation, by an army of invading Celts stopped what could have been the centre of a large empire.

Rome truly fell when the Gauls attacked and took the Capitoline Hill, the last refuge for the Romans. Rome would never again be a powerful city. Most of the population left for nearby Etruscan cities.

Just a short introduction here for my new TL, where I will explore a world where, in 390BC, the Gauls managed to take the Capitoline Hill. I have already planned out many butterflies and details, including an even longer lasting Persian Empire and Ancient Egypt, no huge rise to power of Macedon, Carthage becoming the main power of the western Mediterranean, the Etruscan and Italian Greek civilisations continue to be the main cultures of Italy, and a few other ideas. I would really like some feedback and suggestions! Updates will come soon.

So Camillus arrives to see Rome destroyed with his army? I wonder how he will react. Historically he raised an army of Roman exiles and saved the Romans during negotiations with the Gauls. Maybe he'll go off and found his own city? Or resettle Rome?

Just going to bump this to say that I haven't lost interest, and I've started writing the first couple of updates which will be posted soon. Don't lose hope, some interesting events will happen!
