For want of a car park- An Irish World Cup Win in 2002

General premise is that Roy Keane is allowed to recuperate in Manchester from his hip injury, misses the first game versus Cameroon but comes back for the German game. The rest is history.

Seems like a bit of a stretch. But if you're willing to try and do this as a plausible (non-ASB) ATL, then go for it...

Preparations

21st May 2002- Dublin Airport
As the Irish squad board a specially chartered plane to bring them to the Far East, there is one man missing; Roy Keane.
He is currently at home from Manchester after undergoing hip surgery that caused him to miss the last 6 weeks of Manchester United's campaign.
Mick McCarthy explains to the gathered press that Keane will fly out on June 2nd, the day after Ireland's first match against Cameroon so he will be available for their clash against Germany on June 5th.

Don't worry, I'll try to make this as realistic as possible. I figured that if Keane was fit, we could have taken anyone on our day. I'm slightly retconning the tail end of the 2001-2002 Premier League season, but who's counting :p
