Football PODs and 'What Ifs'

I think it's about time to create a thread that deals with the World Game (Football) PODs. Here are a few to consider:

- England & Scotland enter the first World Cup in Uruguay (1930)
- Dixie Dean plays for Liverpool (1930s)
- Thames do not disband after a few seasons in the Football League but go on to become a major force in English football (1930s onwards)
- Alfredo Di Stefano chooses Inter Milan rather than Real Madrid (1953)
- Bill Shankly turns down Liverpool to become manager of QPR (1959)
- Sepp Blatter invents hi-tech goal line system (2006)

  • Zico's goal in 1978 (disallowed because the referee claimed he'd blown his whistle before the ball crossed the line): Brazil would have topped their group, and avoided Argentina until the final.
  • Barnsley are elected to the Football League instead of Arsenal in 1915.
  • Trevor Francis signs Eric Cantona for Sheffield Wednesday.
  • Sebastian Deisler stays fit.
