During the Revolutionary wars in 1790's, Britain occupied first the Balerics and then Corsica.
However She gave them both back in the 1803 Treaty of Ameins.
?What if Britain reoccupied them in 1804, and refused to give them back [aka Malta] after Napoleon was defeated.?
Marseilles France. 25 June 1940
The Last British and French Freighters were leaving, as were other Freighters all along the French coast.
3 days ago on 22 June 1940 at Compiegne. General Pretelat, commanding the French Second Army group had asked the germans for a ceasefire to discuss a surrender.
Today at a little Town called Vichy, Marchall Philippe Pétain was formally signing the articles of Surrender.
For the past three days every British and French ship available had been shuttling between the Coast and British Dominion Corsica.
Unlike Dunkirk this evavuation had not been under attack, All the British Soldiers as well as all the french soldiers who wanted to come, had been removed.
Plus a lot of the equipment had been salvaged thank to the port facilities, and French Longshoremen being available.
The worse part was the unloading in Corsica, as only the west coast ports were avalible.
The east coast was under attack, and Hawker hurricanes dueled with Fiat C-122's, that were trying to prepare for a Italian invasion of the Island.
To the Southwest, in Bases on the British Balerics, Freighters full of supplies that had been heading for France were being held till the ports on Corsica could be cleared.
I Have assumed that except for British control of Corsica, and the Balerics, Plus a slightly Larger Italian Garrison on Sardinia. Every thing else is OTL up to this point.
France still falls, Italy [Mussolini] still joins the war on June 10th, and Mutual DoW's are exchanged. Britain still evacuates It's forces in South France, except they have a closer Port of Refuge.
?So Can British Hold Corsica?
?What effect will Having this British procession so close to Italy have on the Direction of the War? ?The sequence of Battles?
