Florida

Hell if I know just an odd idea. Spain wasn't really effected till they tore each other part in there civil war. Why not sell a giant piece of land and which at that point was only know for tourism and farming both which were failing. I was looking for a fun discussion. I'm not going to pretend I have all the answers, or I'm the smartest fucker here.

But the United States isn't going to sell off it's territory; it's an asinine idea.

Well that's not very fun now is it. This is why forums are controlled by the few. Sorry to disturb your world your highness

It's not because the forums are controlled by a few(even though it's not) that he's saying this is asinine. He's saying that because it IS asinine. The US is not gonna sell land that's been a state since 1845.

It's just for fun. It's called alternate history. I stress for fun. What if the United States government did sell Florida to Spain to bail out the rest of the country. Just what if. Not what if they didn't.

It's to hard to answer the what if when the what if in question is completely implausible in every single aspect way and form.

1. Who would and can buy Florida. This is a worldwide depression. No one could afford it.
2. Florida is a US state. Selling a state would firstly worry other states they might be sold, and would lead to a coup.

This is unplausable. Stop trolling.

Then you should ask a mod to move this to the ASB forum. Because that's exactly what this scenario is.

A)The US can't sell Florida, Florida is a US state, states can't be sold away, it's against the Constitution
B) No one, much less tiny underdeveloped Spain, has enough money to bail out the US Economy at that time, and even if they did they wouldn't spend it all on Florida

Spain is also careening toward a civil war, they don't have the money to buy it

Honestly the U.S. Would be impossible to sell any territory , they don't want to be sold and the USA is a democracy

General discussion about alternate history scenarios where the divergence from real history happens from 1900 AD onward. Post "what if" questions and talk about the results. NOT debates about present-day politics.
Sorry to bother you. It was the first time I posted. Not trying to troll anyone. Thought it would be fun. I like to draw maps and think up weird stuff like this. But I understand

Actually, Spain during the early and mid 1930's was undergoing simmering unrest and strikes in addition to rising poverty and unemployment. They didn't have either the money to purchase ex-Spanish colonies / properties or the interest of anything beyond their internal conflict.
