Flip of a coin

For Dean the Young....

The coin flip deciding who gets to ride in the plane goes to Waylon Jennings, with Ritchie Valens having to stay. The plane goes down, killing the Big Bopper and Waylon, leaving Ritchie alive still continuing his musical career.

During the 1970s he becomes involved with Cesar Chavez and the farm labor movement, and a son (conceived after the POD) of his will be inspired to enter Democratic politics.

His son goes on to become the first Latino Governor of California. In the early 21st century, he becomes the first Latino President of the United States.

How's that?

Do you see him retiring from performing completely, or just putting in the occasional turn during election campaigns?

Ritchie Sr. Semi-retired. Ritchie Jr. is of course not a musician, but a politician. Probably has a law degree from UC Berkley and worked for civil rights in his early career before achieving elected office.

OK, I like the idea of this. How involved will Ritchie Sr be? and when will he be expected to die in this scenario?

Only peripherally involved after the 1970s.

Well, Waylon died in 2002, so we could extrapolate a similar date of death for Ritchie.

Maybe let him live long enough for the inauguration?

I forget what prompted this (probably a speculation on how a coin flip could change history). But its a very short but fun AH and seems appropriate to remember after singing La Bamba last night....
