The design isn't yours. @CalBear @Ian the Admin @Auseklis

See below. You are an excellent designer but you are plagiarist though. I wouldn't be surprised if you claimed as yours the rest of the stuff too.

I appreciate the sentiment and the notification, but though the logo on the second flag does look a bit like that on the flag I did last year, it's not - the logo in the centre is a re-coloured version of the logo of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Med which happens to be re-coloured a similar yellow.
ps I recommend using the Report button in future, not using @ with the mods' names - that way it's guaranteed to come to their attention.

You are very fortunate that this post was not reported when it was made.

Plagiarism is a really serious issue here. However, Administrative Actions here are supposed to be corrective, not punitive, and taking action five months after-the-fact seems to be pretty much punitive.

This is you get out of Jail Free card. Enjoy it. They only issue one.

In the future please just hit the report button. That will alert all the Mods that there may be a problem.

Thanks

Nice stuff! The Trst flag is a particular standout, and the Slovenian one with the Triglav and the stylised mountain for Crna Gora is very cool too. Given the "lack of connection" to historical symbolism, could see these being the flags of a SFRY that didn't do away with monarchist Yugoslavia's banate system.

Maybe, though the thinking behind it was more "we'll leave the Republic borders but should downplay their history as their only identity is that forged together under socialism", the Banate system was a little bit favorable to Serbs but something like it could easily be done under the SFRJ

Despite the lack of incentive due to there being no prize, I’m guessing this is based off of the flag of the short-lived People’s Republic of Korea.
Yes. I used the PRK flag as a base and made it look more like the DPRK. It was supposed to be for a scifi setting where a North Korean space colony morphed into a full absolute monarchy, but it can probably be used in any setting related to North Korea.

The New Radicals: The Sultanate of Kinakuta

Kinakuta.png

I only recently watched the documentary The New Radical about cryptoanarchism and I thought it felt really familiar, and then it hit me that cryptographers trying to create a way to anonymously transfer cryptocurrency and the design specs for ghost guns was literally the plot of the novel Cryptonomicon. As such, I decided to mock up a flag for the Sultanate of Kinakuta, the fictional island off the coast of Malaysia that hosts the data haven the protagonists use as the basis for their project. The stripes represent the ocean, the mountain that dominates the island and the tropical sky, while the combined crescent moon and alchemical gold symbol creates an eye and the green represents prosperity. As for the wider impact of the existence of the Cryptonomicon scenario, there are way too many variables, but I'd imagine the proliferation of untraceable cryptocurrency and unregistered gun specs at the turn of the century would have enormous impacts, given both the early adoption of the system by drug smugglers and terrorists and the intended function of the system to provide vulnerable minorities with the funds and weapons needed to fight off pogroms and state violence.

Take What Is Offered

Quellism.png

Here's another one-off feeding into my unhealthy obsession with weird ideology flags. This one is for the Quellists, a sadly defunct terrorist group in in the Altered Carbon books and series. Founded on the ideology of Quellcrist Falconer, the Quellists oppose the status quo enforced by the United Nations Interplanetary Protectorate on behalf of the powerful class of immortals who rule over society. While the show Quellists were specifically opposed to the artificially-extended lifespans, Falconer in the books advocated a technology-enabled decentralized social democracy with strong anarchist tenets. The base of the flag is a flipped and recolored version of the Protectorate flag, clear enough symbolism on its own. Despite her exasperation with leftism I still decided to make the main flag red, both to serve her anti-status quo sensibilities and also to contrast with the ensō, recolored to symbolize the quellcrest seaweed found on Harlan's World and central to her revolutionary theory.
