The Bengali Thalassocracy, officially known as the Sublime Domains of the Bangla Sea, is a state in southern Asia, located primarily on the northern end of the Bangla Sea. The Bengalis dominate this small empire, stretching from the Suvadives to the northern tip of Sumatra. It is closely aligned with the Empire of Sayam, which it directly borders thanks to the Bengali's ownership of the Arakan region. While the southern half of the Indian subcontinent was at times colonized by European powers, the Bengalis resisted these efforts and, thanks to their skills as mariners and as textile merchants, managed to get lucrative trade relationships going. While at times certain colonial powers owned so-called factories in Bengal cities and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands were briefly colonized by the Dutch and the Scottish respectively, the Bengalis are proud of their history of being uncolonized and being respected by the world earlier than many of its neighbors.
The flag of the Sublime Domains features in its center a golden water lily, standing for prosperity, and two crossed swords in white. While the swords do symbolize the Bengali's military might, their white color reflects a desire for peace in preparedness. These two symbols are placed on a green field, symbolizing the fertile land of the Ganges delta, while the red and white border stands for the Bengali people and their faith & purity respectively. This version of the flag was adopted in the early 20th century, prior to that the flag featured crossed swords in red on a white background with a green border, with a golden water lily in the upper right hoist.
This is just a small teaser for something I'm working on, you can probably guess what it will be. This will also probably be one of several flags I'll be posting soon-ish, so look forward to that.
