And here is a basic naval variant:
Flag of the State of New Canaan from What Madness Is This? Redux. It is in the region of what was formerly known as Mexico before the Great Immolation. New Canaan's capital of Metropolis was erected on the burned-out wreckage of Old Mexico City. It is one of the most modern cities in the world and also one of the most heavily policed. The Aura-and-Cross, symbol of the American Fundamentalist Christian Church, lies directly in the center of the flag.
The Aura-and-Cross has been the symbol of the American Fundamentalist Christian Church since the days of the Prophet Burr. The Aura can be either looming behind the Cross or smaller and in the foreground. The Cross symbolizes, of course, Christ, while the Aura symbolizes not only the Power of Jehovah but also the blinding visions experienced by the Prophet Burr when he was instructed to write down the Four Books of Manifest Destiny. The Blue canton symbolizes hope and life, the white symbolizes the purity of the Anglo-Saxon American Nation and the spotless garments the New Jerusalem shall wear on Judgement Day, while the red symbolizes the Blood of Christ and the Pinnacle Blood of Patriots through time. The ten points of the star stand for the ten pillars of the AFC faith:
The Lord Jehovah
The Holy Ghost
The Prophet Burr
The Old Testament
The New Testament
The Book of Manifestum
The Book of Fati
The Book of Patriots
The Book of Purity
YET MOAR MARS
Another Overheaven flag, this time for the Commonwealth of Martian Territories, better known as "Tharsis", "American Tharsis" or the "Tharsis Commonwealth". The story of Tharsis begins on July 4th 1976, when astronaut Robert H Lawrence, Jr planted the American flag on the Red Planet as part of the Ares 1 mission, and established the foundation for Tesla, USA - the very first settlement on Mars - a couple hours later.
The CMT was established during the Ronald Reagan administration in 1981 as one of science-fiction fan's first acts as President. Based on proposals from the preceding John Glenn administration, the CMT was divided into twelve territories - Kennedy, Valles Marineris, Roosevelt, Daedalia, Eisenhower, New Saigon, Olympus Mons, Alba, Borealis, Tempe, Solis and Araby, plus a federal district - Tesla, District of Ares. In 1996, a thirteenth territory was added - the Reagan Territory. In 1999, the CMT has a population of around 508,000 residents, and by then nearly 40% were native-born Martians. Citizens of Tharsis would automatically have US citizenship, send an elected representative to DC, use the US dollar as their legal tender, and have the protection of the United States via the United States Army and the Tharsis National Guard. However, due to the sheer logistics of interplanetary travel and communication, the Tharsians would necessarily have a high degree of control over their own internal affairs, including electing their own President, who runs the show alongside his Vice President and a (mostly ceremonial) High Commissioner, sent from Earth and appointed by the US President to act as his representative on Mars.
Tharsis remained in free association with the United States until the end of World War III (2037-2039) on Earth, and the EuroTAK War (2038-2041) on Mars, when an...awkward set of geopolitical and astropolitical circumstances in 2041 led American Tharsis, British Avalon and Japanese Kasei to form the three pillars of an independent Mars, in the form of the Martian Assembly.
As of 2285, Tharsis remains the largest polity on Mars, even if borders these days mean relatively little on a federalized Mars.
The Tharsian flag obviously evokes the stars and stripes of the OG American flag. The Betsy Ross-style ring of thirteen stars are meant to evoke the "Bicentennial" spirit in which the American colonization of Mars began. The central red disk with the white chevron is meant to evoke: the traditional astrological symbol for Mars (without appearing to symbolize the masculine gender); reference the mission patch for the Ares 1 mission (which features a white chevron over an image of Mars); and evoke the image of a Spartan shield (and therefore the Greek god, Ares).
I do plan on coming up with flags for each of the thirteen territories of Tharsis. Will definitely post those here in the future when I have them all done.
Two flags from two Ubisoft games, Santa Blanca from Ghost Recon Wildlands, and Project at Eden's Gate from Far Cry 5.
nice flags, but try and keep them to at most 3/day.
calbear is watching.
Some really nice flags.
Okeedokee! No problem. Lol I haven't made flags in months and was just in a mood today. Lol
The black cross doesn't contrast enough on the dark blue. Might I suggest some fimbriation or changing the colour of the cross to something brighter?
Excellent as always!
A simple flag for a universe where British East Africa, known today as Kenya, becomes an Apartheid-esque state with a relationship to the British similar to the Rhodesians in our timeline (aka they're a racist republican pariah).
The blue central stripe with the lion is inspired by/taken from the British colonial flag, with the red lion representing the (ruling) people of East Africa and the blue standing for British heritage. The green stands for the future, nature, and wealth. The white stripes represent "civilization taming nature"/"the pacification of nature".
Possibly the cutest set of flags I’ve ever seen.
Flags of North Korea and the Democratic Republic of Manchuria
Posting three in one post (hope that's okay):
From "What Madness Is This?"
Flag of the Confederation of the Carolinas' tiny African colony of Jacksonland (OTL fragment of Angola). Jacksonland was acquired in 1870 as a place for the Confederation to dump former slaves and those deemed "problematic" by the government in Charlotte. The colony was named after Chancellor Andrew Jackson, a man considered a martyr by the country-fried nation for his death in the Cuba War, fought against Virginia in 1827. The flag depicts an equestrian image of Chancellor Jackson rearing up before a sunrise, symbolizing the bringing of Carolinian culture and light to the "Dark Continent." On the lower black half of the flag, an African bird is depicted sitting upon a tribal helmet.
Flag of the State of Redemption (roughly OTL Montana with some of Idaho). Redemption acquired its statehood in 1859, following a campaign led by its favorite adopted son, the Ohio-born George Armstrong Custer, future dictator-president of the Republican Union and Atheling of the Manifest Destiny Party. Redemption's capital of Aurora is not quite a bustling boomtown, but several gold rushes and then later nuclear research in the area sparked a decent economic revival in the mid-20th century. The flag bears the the Aura-and-Cross, symbol of the American Fundamentalist Christian Church.
The Office of Health and Wellness was founded during the Great World War to combat the spread of the Quebec Flu, going on to wipe out the disease during what it called "The Cleansing Month" of March, 1914, when Doctors Midas Israel Goldstein and Joseph K. Finch implemented their forced vaccination program upon the Republican Union. When several towns refused the vaccine, such as the anarchist commune of Oakridge, Appalachia, OHW "nurses" and other government forces besieged the town and razed it to the ground for its defiance. Following that turbulent period, OHW established itself as the all-powerful medical branch of the Republican Union government, led by the polymath Dr. Goldstein for some time. The doctors of the Union are always vigilant and always watching for signs of genetic deficiency or new diseases in their quest for the total "Purity of the Fluids," and the rebirth of the "Pinnacle Man," a brown-haired Anglo-Saxon superman. OHW clinics can be found in every city, and at least one OHW nurse is present at every Yankee school to watch for signs of mental or genetic deficiency or crippling illnesses, as well as reporting the spread of contagious viral or bacterial infections. Far from being practitioners of the Hippocratic Oath they profess to live by, OHW nurses and doctors have the most blood on their hands of likely anyone in the Union, and decades later they would still deny responsibility for the poisoning of over nine million people deemed "Inferior and Enemies of the State."
Nice symbolism, @Napoleon53 . Very sinister.
Flag of (the County/Province of) Flanders
been working on a nation-state and this is the flag
The People's Republic of... Costa Rica?
No, it looks more like the flag of Suriname.
Quite happy about it.
Socialist France Republic.
The republic was a soviet puppet and stay communist also after the 1990s when soviet Union fell.
It's like Cuba, a vetero communist state where party and army are linked by fear of foreign invasion.
Separate names with a comma.
