As an Aussie, I think you're reaching a bit. If anything, to me this flag represents an Australia that got conquered by Japan in alt-WW2.

Take a look at the Japanese prefecture flag design, they only really have one element per flag.

Or just create some other mon which could represent a Japanese Australia. I imagine Japanese colonial flags (hypothetical Japanese Australia, Japanese West Coast, etc.) would use a mon distinctive to that colony.

A flag I've made as part of my MotM entry for one of Vermont's neighbours, the Republic of New Hampshire.
A somewhat libertarian hub of manufacturing and energy production, their 1.1 million citizens clothe and power the eastern seaboard and also produce an array of dairy and nursery products. Attempts to diversify away from their traditional bases into IT, services and shipping have faced stiff competition from their economically beefier neighbours, but they're not exactly hurting for it. Given their nonexistent income tax and political neutrality they're something of an emigration center for the wealthy, which has seen them accused as a tax haven.

I've now made a Bristol flag. The closest thing it has to a one currently the Council's armorial banner, which is just a full-size coat of arms shield. But unlike Bath's, I think it's too complex to 'work', since I prefer simplicity and a maximum of three colours in flag designs. (which is why I went with white over gold for the sword on the Bath flag) So I just went with the 'ship on the waves' aspect.

All elements provide continuity with both the coat of arms and the council logo, but I thought the plain ship, representing the city's maritime heritage, makes for better symbology on its own than one half-obscured by a castle/tower on a hill.

The New Lawrencian States(1963-?)
As president Herbert Hoover was begining his time in the office the Great Depression was abrewing, an event which would question and ultimately overthrow the free market. As the depression left people without food, they were left without ideals as well, losing any faith in capitalism. As such many became adepts to,predominantely, marxism and the technocracy.
On the 5th of October 1931, President Hoover is assassinated, by socialist rebel groups. This triggers nation wide chaos as various factions fight each other, while the authorities are unable to pacify the population. Seizing the opportunity, Leon Trotsky, flees to California, where he unites the various socialist rebels under one movement, forming the American Party of Workers and Farmers. In the coming year nationwide riots turn into a complete revolution. The old goverment is abolished, and the Union of Socialist American Republics is formed.
Without any US support during WW2 the Allies fall prey to the ever growing Third Reich, which no longer pokes the soviet bear.
By the early 50s the world is split between the 3 Red Flags. The Trotskist USAR controls most of the 2 Americas, Except for what was once Canada and Brazil, which are part of the Third Reich. The very concept of freedom now becomes a dangerous thought.
However freedom is pursued even against all odds. Little under 3 decades years after the bloody revolution, freedom fighters yet again begin rebelling. In regions around Montreal and New York, 2 different organizations with simillar goals unite and perform well planned strikes on both the USAR and the Reich. The ensuing confusion and lack of knowledge of the rebellion, cause the 2 Powers to go on a quick conflict. However in 1961 they sign a peace treaty. Both nations would give up territories to form a neutral buffer state, called the Lawrencian Union, due to the territories being located around the St. Lawrence river. The territories would be :

On the behalf of the Third Reich:
  1. Southern Quebec
  2. the "Toronto Peninsula"
  3. New Brunswick
  4. Nova Scotia
On the behalf of the USAR:
  1. Maine
  2. Vermont
  3. New Hampshire
  4. Massachusetts
  5. New York
  6. Pennsylvania
However the newly formed state was right where the rebels were operating. A revolution ensues in 1963, which reinstates some form of democracy and capitalism. The New Lawrencian States are formed. The newly formed state gave back civil rights to people again, but refrained from giving them almost any political liberty. This was because the founders believed that only ellites should have those rights, since it was the commoners, the average joes, that brought down democracy.
The flag's scheme of colors reminices the colors of the Star and Spangled and the French Tricolour, 2 ideals of the NLS: Liberty through Revolution.
The 10 stars represent the 10 Lawrencian states.
The Winged Shield represents another two ideals: Ascension and Protection .

Sidenote: This flag is based on an older flag of mine. I was looking through my older posts and i thought it looked pretty cool, so i wanted to make something new but similar.

Only thing: why a cross for India? Otherwise very nice.

It is meant to suggest derivation from a flag similar to the Indian Home Rule flag and that there is a greater Anglo-Indian population in the Empire of India. Flags with crosses and/or saltires have become associated with countries in the British Commonwealth in TTL, similar to flags with Nordic crosses are associated with the Nordic countries in OTL.
A cross of single colour didn't seem right to me, so I've broken it into three parts that still suggest the idea of a cross.
The horizontal parts of the cross in blue represent the Indus River and the Ganges River, and the vertical part in black represents the Iron Pillar of Delhi.

What do the two golden stars represents?
Slight nitpicking, but there's something odd in the middle of Capeland's flag where the coloured areas stab into the saltire.

The two golden stars were meant to represent the idea of "the sun never sets on the British Empire/Commonwealth".
It's fine to nitpick things like that. It bothered me as well. An artefact of exporting the image from Inkscape, that I missed at preview scales.

Persian National Socialist Flag:
With the weak and unstable government in Iran during the 1920's, the Socialist republic of Gilan is more successful in gaining land to form a larger Persian SSR (very-short lived in our timeline). With a more successful Gilan, this leads to more political turmoil in the south, with Iran developing a strong sense of nationalism due to the approaching Russians and British, many political movements band together under National Socialism, towards the end of the 1920's a Coup d'etat finishes off the last of the old Persian government, the first course of action is to liberate Gilan, incorporating it into the nation.
Vexology of the Flag:
The Bird in the middle of the flag, takes a strong inspiration from that of European imperial nations such as Germany and Russia, however the incredibly long wings and short tail resemble that of the symbol of Zoroastrianism, while a dead religion, its presence can easily be used as a rallying symbol among the Persian people due to its roots. This nation is secular, due to National Socialism, therefore the new symbol is meant to be more of a political propaganda, similar to the usage of mountains and valleys in the Georgian SSR flag. Inside of the "bird", the previous symbol of Iran is still seen, however it has been greatly diminished, thus resembling Persia's moving forward politically, but hoping to keep certain Persian traditions alive from the days of old. In the top left is the writing used in the flag of Gilan, to show the incorporation of Gilan into the Republic.
The Current Year is 1927
Borders of this Nation:

Due to the Aggression built up by the nationalist front against the British, throughout the mid 1920's small guerilla warfare conflicts occur, this country controls all of modern-day Iran (OTL), as well as a good 20-30 miles inward of Baluchistan, in Pakistan/British Raj, as well as another 15-25 miles westward into Kurdish dominated north-east Iraq. The Persians also directly border British Kuwait, occupying all of the land that was once Iraqi separating them from Kuwait.
NOTE: the Bird is also serving more as a military cross, similar to the Military Cross used by Germany in WW1

The United Mashriqi Emirates
mashriq-png.367853

A Brief History of Modern Mashriq
With the establishment of the Egyptian Sultanate the Ottomans were forced to withdraw direct control over Mesopotamia. The Empire of Iran established a protectorate over Kurdistan and the British expanded their Gulf Federation. Proxy wars began among the Arab Emirates and Egypt solidified control over the Hejaz proclaiming itself the Caliphate.
As the proxy wars backed by the 4 Alliances [1] escalated, most notably between the Rashidi and Saudi Kingdoms, the Americans [2] called and mediated a Congress in the Free City of Jerusalem to avoid another global war among the great powers.
This resulted in 2 Arab confederations - the southern Arabian Sultanate and the northern United Mashriqi Emirates (also called the Mashriqi Republic). The UME is ruled by the Council of Emirs who rotate the Presidency (of the Council) between them. Whilst individual Emirs have discretion of rule over their emirates laws relating to military and state wide economics cannot be countermanded. As a result of the free movement of labour and high education the UME has become highly secular and boasts equality for women above some of the western powers themselves.

The Mashriqi Flag
The flag features 2 crescents representing both the 2 common forms of Islam and the historical Tigris and Euphrates rivers. In the centre is a modified Rub Al Hizb representing the peace achieved at Jerusalem [3]. The 4 quarters represent the country as a crossroads between the 4 directions.

[1] These being the Franco-Russian Entente (2nd French Empire, Russian Empire, Ottoman Sultanate, and allies), the London-Frankfurt Pact (British Empire, German Empire, and allies), Kabul Accord (Iran and the Durrani-Moghal empire), and the Egyptian Caliphate
[2] The 3rd Republic of the USA being strongly neutral and pro stable government
[3] The outer ring is the Al Quds Star that represents Jerusalem, Al Quds in Arabic.
