Crossposting my entry for Flag Challenge #141: In God we (don't) Trust

Northern Hearts: A more secular Denmark
Denmark retained the mainland duchies and Scania, while Norway went off on its own. At some point, a rationalist movement, with views on Christianity quite similar to those of the French Revolution, gained traction in Danish politics. The flag was eventually changed to reflect their views.

The new flag retained the colors and dimensions of the old flag, but depicted a red field divided by a single red line, dotted with the nine hearts from the Danish coat of arms, instead of a white cross on red. The white line represents the Baltic Sea, while the lower and upper parts represent Jutland (and the duchies) and Scania respectively. The hearts represent the Danish islands, the state, and the Danish monarchy.

Damn you for gorgeous flagness!
Haha, glad you liked it! Believe it or not, the design was actually vaguely inspired by an old flag challenge entry of yours (#42, I think). They aren't really that similar per se, but it came to mind while I was brainstorming possible designs and settled on the current one.

That flag's too nice to be a US state flag! Where's the overly complex seal? Where's the state name and a random date in MASSIVE letters?? :p

Seriously, it's a nice looking flag.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that there's a rule that US state flags have to either be incredibly simple or incredibly bland and boring.

"Freedom is never Free" in both German and Hungarian.

In Hungarian it would be "A szabadság sosincs ingyen", which kinda ruins the word-play I know, but unfortunately that's how it is.

"szabad" means free in the sense how a freed slave would be free, while "ingyen" is free in the sense how something can be taken for free.

Looking at the little "Greater German" flag in my sig... I'm trying to find a way to add some elements from the flag of the Netherlands. any ideas?

Nah... removed the Prussian/German Black.

I want to add blue or Orange to the bottom. Blue would serve to better split the Red and Yellow. But I don't want it to dominate the third band.
