This is the flag of the Socialist Republic of Korea. It comes from a world where North Korea won the Korean War. With all of Korea United under a single socialist government this Korea never experienced the rise of Juche and the overall quality of life is much higher than in our world's North Korea. Having said that, quality of life is also much lower than in our world's South Korea. Over the years the government has begun to loosen its grip and liberalize, and each year sees more foreign in investors and business invest in Korea.

Relations between the United States and Korea were initially rather frosty, but in recent years thing have begun to warm up once again. In the absence of a capitalist Korea, the United Sates has increased its military bases in Japan. In general, this Korea is comparable to our world's Vietnam.

Speaking of Vietnam, in this world Vietnam is still divided between a capitalist south and a communist north. North Vietnam has grown increasingly isolationist, more than a little nutty and has lately devolved a troubling obsession with nuclear weapons. South Vietnam, by contrast, has proven to be a thriving tiger economy and become a leader in technology innovation and pop culture. V-Pop music in particular has proven popular with global audiences,

Like the background-story, not the flag. sorry. :/ I'm not a fan of country shapes on flags.

Flags of the mighty Empire of Ossiden from the book I'm writing (and currently suffering a great deal of writer's block for).

If anyone is curious, the reason they use Latin is because one of the few bits of history they have clearly is that of Rome. They use terrible Latin, however (i.e. my excuse to use Google Translate for in-canon reasons).

You've got the Imperial Banner, showcasing the Imperial Crest, as well as the motto of "Deus, Imperio, Familia". It's used by most military installations and government structures.

Next is the War Flags; in Ossiden, Commoners and Nobles are separated in the military, and every unit flies one of the two banners to let their blood status be known. Most generals use reports of where noble and commoner units are to plan strategy, with commoner units flagged immediately as cannon fodder.

Finally is the flag of the University of Artificers, in which those with natural talent for advanced mathematics and science (viewed as close to magic) are gathered to study and practice their skills (against their will in many cases; people of such intellect are seen as a threat to a peaceful populace). They spend their time recovering lost knowledge, reinventing science, and crafting new theories and plans (mostly for war machines).

There's also the Chime of the Empire, which most Ossidanes sing as anything from bedtime songs to military marches. Fidelis Aeternum is the motto of the ruling house, the Teeg Family.

And we have the seven ancient laws, being the first few laws created back when the Empire was a small enclave in the Vesta Mountains.

A Stars and Stripes version of the Canadian flag, the four stripes represent the four provinces when Canada gained it's independence. Each maple leaf representing all the 10 provinces. When the world melts maybe 3 new leafs will be added!:p

Not bad, though one leaf should be enough. Unless one took a big dookie that needs multiple leaf wipes. :D

Anyone up for creating a flag for my ASB Titanic timeline?

Basic gist is that the Titanic is ISOT'd to a virgin world and given supplies by the ASB to build a survivable civilization, based in New York. The flag should be based on the White Star Line pennant flag.

The name of the country they found is the Republic of Avalon, if that matters any.

How's about this? I included a red pennant with a white star to symbolize the Titanic itself and the waves to represent the journey across the ocean and into the new world.

Hmm. That's one possibility. And I do agree with the color choices, I think that red white and blue would be selected as most of the citizens are either British or American.

The flag of the African Republic of Angola after gaining independence in 1984, from my TL. The five arrows represent the "five virtues" of the republic independence, self reliance, justice, progress, and unity.

Here's an alternate design I had, same basic symbolism, but the sun represents the dawn of a new era and the new republic
