and the pick-axe, representing the workers in the fields and forests (And more humorously, the murder weapon of Larry Trotsky, Russian immigrant to the United States and Revolutionary leader).

A pickaxe would not really be the ideal tool to represent agriculture, and definitely not correct for logging. Though that makes me think, an interesting flag design might be a communist tool arrangement that includes a two-man felling saw (perhaps for a communist Canada?). Not only is it representative of forestry, but it also symbolizes the spirit of comradely cooperation!
