Since Richard seems to have forgotten or doesn't have time now due to work, I've decided to manage the voting poll for Round 89.

The topic of this round was :

Design a flag for an alternate timeline Mutual Defence Organisation existing any time between 1850 and 2012, naming the member nations of the organisation.

Here are the entries submitted to Round 89 of the WFC. (All of them have been resized to a height of 300 px.) Please vote.

This military alliance included many states which were largely unrecognised, including the Lusatian State for instance and other minority Slavic populations in not Slavic states which were all recognized by other НАПРH nations. States considered Non-Slavic were not included in this alliance. The flag has 25:12 ratio, the shield with symbol of Rece Boga (symbol adopted by the Russian НАПРH party and considered the symbol of it's ideology) representing the defence that Slavic solidarity will bring to the people, said solidarity only possible through the НАПРH ideology. The twin axes represent the axe of Perun, chief Slavic god of thunder, with the symbol of Perun on the axe blade as well. Also are the two glagolitic letters for "С" and "Н" abbreviating Сою́з Народа.

New France

Already alarmed by the posturing of the Union of National Social Republics (formerly the Abejan Empire) and aghast at the devastation caused in Europe and also the Mediterranean coast and hinterland by the Great Gas War between the National Social Republic of Mitropa and other European states, the remaining 8 nations of north America entered into a mutual defence pact. Initially known as the Drake Compact (from its place of creation - Drake City, the capital of New Albion) it subsequently received the formal title of the North American Treaty Organisation when it adopted the following flag:

Bangkok Pact, or officially the " Union of Nations For the Defense of the Sacred Mandala " was a defense treaty signed by the revolting Southeast Asia States in the British Indies.

The decision by the British to take the entire mainland southeast Asia seemed to turn out well for them. Chulalongkorn, the King of Thailand, abandoned his initial plan to be a Buffer State between the British and the French, and worked whole-heatedly for the British. Since the royal families who fought the British and/or supported the French were overtly weakened, Siam had a huge advantage in the region.

After an incident in which a British soldier reportedly committed blasphemy against a statue of Buddha, revolts broke out against British rule. The result was a union centered around Bangkok (Krung Thep).

Burma was a Republic because the British had previously had the King removed.
Laotian Rep. was a Thai client state.
The Black Flag Army was nominally still a subordinate of the Vietnamese Emperor, who stayed out of the Pact.

GODI have dozens more members but they are mostly puppets of the Five and as such don't really posses any decision making powers.
GODI was established after the World War in which totalitarian/authoritarian Alliance of Five managed to defeat more democratic( if still somewhat colonialist) European Powers.
There is a lot of tension between members of the Five as their ideologies are barely similar but until there are still threats to global order such as Collectivist Union of Baharat[1](with power block it managed to build in South Asia and East Africa after the War) members of GODI will continue to cooperate "to defend humanity from Chaos".

The Visegrad Defence Pact

Created in the 1950s, the Visegrad Defence Pact (VDP) serves as the defence branch of The Visegrad Union. All of the Visegrad Union's member states are also members of the defence pact. As much as the Union ensures close political, economic and cultural ties and cooperation between the countries of eastern central Europe, the VDP ensures their mutual defence, as well as their cooperation in international military events, in domestic disaster relief operations, in peacekeeping missions abroad and in regular mutual defence exercises.

Current member states :
- The Czech-Moravian-Silesian Republic
- The Slovak Republic
- The Hungarian Republic
- The Transcarpathian Ukrainian Republic
- The Polish Republic (as part of the United Confederation of Polish Peoples)
- The Kingdom of Silesia (as part of the United Confederation of Polish Peoples)
- The Kingdom of Galicia (as part of the United Confederation of Polish Peoples)

Symbolism used in the flag :
The swords = Each sword represents one of the seven member states and the contribution of their armed forces to the defence pact, as well as the will to protect and defend the citizens of that specific country, no matter the cost. All swords are the same size, shape and colour, denoting the equality of all member countries of the VDP. Their placement in a near-circle - as if on a round table worthy of knightly chivalry - is a reference to the original Visegrad Treaty of the 14th century, in which the kings of the Czech, Polish and Hungarian lands signed the first ever mutual defence pact in this part of Europe. Since all countries that are today members of the Visegrad Union and the VDP once belonged to the medieval Visegrad Treaty, this historical call back is highly relevant and serves as a reminder of political and diplomatic tradition.
The wreath = Symbolizes the commitment to the defence and preservation of peace within the territory of the Visegrad Union, as well as within the territory of all other countries that are allies of the Union or have friendly relations with it. It also symbolizes that the VDP tries to seek primarily peaceful solutions to internal as well as international crises of a political and military nature, that its military doctrine focuses on defensive measures rather than offensive ones and that the VDP has a commitment to help in peacekeeping operations abroad.
The torch = It consists of the letters "V" and "U" stacked on each other, forming a stylised torch. The "V" and "U" letters primarily denote the Visegrad Union (VU), reinforcing the pact's alliegance and subservience to it and its civilian governments. The letters also have secondary meanings : "U" also symbolizes the Latin word unitas, referring to the unity of the countries of the Visegrad Union and the VDP. (To further symbolize this unity, the torch's flame sprouting from the top of the U is officially referred to as "The Flame of Central European Unity".) The "V" can symbolize a variety of lofty ideals that the VDP considers its guidelines. It is usually interpreted as the Latin words veritas ("truth"), valeo ("strenghth"/"I am strong"/"courage"/"bravery") and victoria ("victory").

The rebels having no navy, and the government no army, an uneasy truce was found. After the OTL breakout of World War II, the Soviet Union and the American Workers' Republic discarded the old Communist International, or Comintern, and created the new Global Commune (Глобальная Коммуны) based in Leningrad and being the "third bloc", in opposition to the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan), but not allied with the Allied Powers (UK, France, and Nationalist China). The Allies were never able to reclaim Nazi Europe, but through the gargantuan efforts of Soviet manpower combined with American technology (imported via Alaska and Siberia), the red flag was raised over Paris in February 1946. The war in Asia had gone similarly well: the British as well as the American government-in exile had been crushed by the Japanese as early as 1943, leaving the way for Soviet armies from Manchuria, brand-new American fleets from California, and Communist Chinese partisans from the inland to converge upon Japan. By 1947 the main power in the world was the Global Commune, which became a sort of "global government", facilitating redistribution of goods between nations as well as being a world military, always watching for the malicious capitalists who lay waiting in the British Isles, Africa, South America, and India...

It's my first entry, so I'm pretty much a newbie at this. It is just a recoloring, but I think it turned out okay... Next challenge I'll be better at editing and make a more original flag.
