Flag of the Dominion of [West] Pakistan

The red in the hoist represents the losses of the past and the struggle for independence, the white represents the hope and finality of the transition to independence, and the green the hope for Pakistan's future. The four golden rings represent the four provinces of Pakistan, while the thirteen stars represent the thirteen princely states which united with the nation.

Anywho, my entry.

Kingdom of Arabia

In this timeline, rather than a religious state, Arabia (Saudi or not, can be left up to the imagination) is a strong anti-imperialist ideology backed state. While the colors involved can be likened to the Pan-Arab colors, but are slightly different than the traditional interpretation. The layout has also been changed up drastically for artistic presentation. The switch from horizontal to vertical format hearkens to the geography of Arabia, with the blue (or black) seas on the side, lines with the white sandy beaches. The green in the center represents Arabia itself, bled over by a single crimson blood droplet representing the necessary sacrifices against Imperialist aggression. ITTL the crimson blood droplet was first used by Arabia, but later spread to other nations and movements in the former colonial sphere.

The United Kingdom of the British Isles

The (brief) union of Scotland and Norway forces Edward I of England to declare himself King of Ireland (in order not to be outcrowned by a vassal) and he quarters his arms with the new ones of Ireland - 3 gold leopards on blue.
Forces under him and his successors would often fly a red and blue quartered flag often with a gold rose.
Butterflies lead to a Roses analogue following the end of the House of Clarence (there's no HYW here either) involving the House of Mortimer who adds a green rose.
Union with Scotland promotes a new flag and this is the one chosen by the King featuring a Sun-in-Splendour surrounded by the Mortimer green roses emblem.

Another version of the United Kingdom's flag - based on a flag I made a couple months ago.

The civil flag of the United Kingdom features the flags of England, Scotland, Wales (St. David), and Northern Ireland (unofficial) - whose locations on the flag represent those in real life - combined with a chevron facing towards the fly, standing for progress.

[Edit:] Modified the flag with Marc Pasquin's suggestions in mind (thanks for the advice!)
In the lead up to the vote on the Quebec Charter of Values in 2013, the more hardline elements of the Parti Quebecois/ Quebec Solidaire ruling coalition managed to pressure the government into fully implementing the goals of the charter by removing all so-called "heritage" loopholes that would have seen symbols exempted from secularism.

For this reason, a comity was set up to design a new flag for the province. Despite a large numbers of unsolicited submissions made by both professional designers and private citizens, the design eventually adopted was, like the first one, done by a civil servant and simply approved by the National Assembly.

The design adopted was presented as a secular version of the previous one rather then a completely new one. As such, it removed the white cross but to keep the 4 quarters without violating heraldic rules, the colours of the 2nd and 3rd quarters were inverted.

The new version of the Fleurdelisé (often refered to as "le Fleurdelisé Laïc" or Secular Fleurdelisé) proved controversial among certain segment of the population although the only major complaint was the lack of consultation and support for various alternative design.

I guess I'm not being completely original here. But this is my submission for the United Kingdom. After the secession of Scotland, England reacts negatively, attempting to both show the unity of the remaining three parts of the United Kingdom of England and Ireland and to hint at the dominance of England they made a new flag. The flag consists of the tower of London super imposed by three Tudor roses. The tower has three spires, again demonstrating the unity of the three kingdoms.

Flag of Israel

The stripes are a geographical representation of Israel - the blue stripes at the top and bottom represent the Mediterranean Sea and River Jordan that Israel sits between (depending on who you ask...) and the green on yellow represents "making the desert bloom". The insignia at the left is the symbol of the Haganah, the main pre-independence Jewish militia that evolved into the modern Israeli military.

Flag of India

A secular flag adopted after independence to represent all of the people included within this vast nation, muslims, hindus, buddhists, and christians alike. The white background represents the blank slate that newly independent India is. The black ring represents the unity of all the people within the nation. The red in the center represents the heart of the nation, protected by the people's unity. The black box is to help distinguish the flag from the sky.

Here's a late entry:

Suomen kuningaskunnan lippu (Flag of the Kingdom of Finland)

Millions of butterflies died to make it happen, but here it goes.

The POD here is that the Kaiserschlacht (Spring Offensive) of 1918 is an enormous success beyond even the wildest dreams of German High Command. The Allies were caught completely unprepared to the Stoßtruppen tactics and logistical backup to the breakthrough was prepared and executed perfectly. The Allied lines were broken and British armies driven to the sea. With France facing the German war machine alone and with anti-war sentiments among populations reaching new heights, the Allies had no choice but to initiate the peace process.

This meant that the gains from the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk were not undone for the Germans. True, most of the former Russian territories were not incorporated into the German Empire in the end and became nominally independent. Still, in reality the newly created kingdoms of Ukraine, Poland, Ruthenia, Lithuania, Baltica and Finland were all ruled by German-born kings and bound to the German-dominated sphere of Mitteleuropa.

In Suomen sisallissota (Finnish Civil War), the victory of monarchists supported by the Germans led to the adoption of monarchist constitution and the election of Friedrich Karl von Hessen as the first Suomen kuningas (King of Finland) with the royal title of Kaarle I. In addition to that, the traditional Nordic cross design of the Flag of Finland was abandoned to show a clear break with both Swedish and Russian past, and a German-style tricolour with coat of arms adopted instead. Still, the traditional Finnish colors of white and blue were retained, along with the ancient coat of arms.

Flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland

Following the collapse of the British Union in 1979 and the restoration of the monarchy under Charles III, the Union Jack was viewed as two closely associated with the authoritarian regime, and so a contest was held to determine a replacement flag for a modern Britain.

Originally chosen as a placeholder, the flag has remained surprisingly popular since, and there are no current plans to replace it with an original design. The three stripes officially stand for Britain's imperial and naval past, the blood spilled in the fight against tyranny, and for desire for peace in the future. Each of the UK's federal states are shown equally, a response to Welsh criticism that they were not represented on the old flag.

I'm running short on time, so I'm afraid I won't be able to provide any sort of detailed background story for this one.

Northern Hearts: A more secular Denmark
Denmark retained the mainland duchies and Scania, while Norway went off on its own. At some point, a rationalist movement, with views on Christianity quite similar to those of the French Revolution, gained traction in Danish politics. The flag was eventually changed to reflect their views.

The new flag retained the colors and dimensions of the old flag, but depicted a red field divided by a single red line, dotted with the nine hearts from the Danish coat of arms, instead of a white cross on red. The white line represents the Baltic Sea, while the lower and upper parts represent Jutland (and the duchies) and Scania respectively. The hearts represent the Danish islands, the state, and the Danish monarchy.
