Fixing the mistakes of the 20s

1922: Mussolini is arested and charged with high treason after his failed coup.
1923: Adolf Hitler is killed in the Beer Hall Putsch. Without a leader who can stir the crowds, Public Oppion goes against the Nazi Party, and it soon disbands
What year?: Totsky becomes leader of the Soveit union
Through out the decade: Fewer people buy on margine, causeing a minor Recession rather than a Depression in 1929.

So, now all I need to do is take care of Japan and I've got it!

While taking Hitler out is probably a good thing, Germany is bound to have some kind of ugly revanchist movement, and pretty massive one. Also, I'm not convinced that Trotsky's ascention would be all that positive. He came up with truly hideous ideas during Civil War, but it is not given that he'll blindly follow those would he become leader of the Soviet Union.

P.S.: About Japanese. Give them the damn Daquing and they'll have no need to jump South. Speaking about possible jump North, I would say "let them try" :)

If you wanted to take care of Japan, you'ld probably have to make them Lose the Russo-Japan war.
that way there's no Victory Fever, and they may end up more....wait, that'ld make thing worst. a Cautious Japan would pick and choose Fights it could win.......

It what ways would Trotsky be worse than Stalin? I can't just have the Japs loose the Ruso-Japanese war because it took place 1904-05 and the PODs need to be in the 20s.

Well I can't see any POD then. either they have to lose the Russo-Japan war, or take Admiral Yamamoto's words to heart, and both arn't in the 20s.

Well, he actively advocated "labor armies" idea during the Civil War (even Stalin considered Gulag a punishment, but labor armies were normal element of communist society for Trotsky). However, he seem to have changed later. That's why I'm saying that there's no way to know what kind of leader he would be like. On personal level, he was a lot less paranoid and insecure than Stalin.

No Florida real-estate bubble

The British and French realize that Germany can't possible pay the reparations owed
and renegotiate a more reasonable Versailles treaty.

According to the wiki, Daqing oil wasn't discovered yet.

Now, just killing Adolf or Mussolini isn't going to prevent someone else from taking power..... Germany will get a right wing dictator after Weimar- hope they're either stupider or more benign than Hitler.

And while Stalin may be worse for Russia, Trotsky is worse for the world.

How about Bukharin as a compromise candidate for the USSR? Pragmatic and (As far as I know) not a total bastard.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. It is on territory Japanese controlled since what, 1920s? Let them discover it, and "raison d'etre" for their Southern push is butterflied away, empire has oil of it's own.

I would say that all of them are too socialist for my taste. Bukharin used to be "left communist".

why right wing? why not Communist? in the last free election in Germany, the Social Democratic Party came in second and the Communist Party 3rd, if Rosa Luxemburg were alive i could see the Commies being much stronger

If Trotsky takes power the Left in Germany will be even stronger - he'd likely advocate the United Front.

And as far as Trotsky being worse for the World, I can't see it. He was an internationalist, but he was also in favour of getting Capitalist countries to invest in the USSR. 'Sell us the rope with which we will hang them', of course, but still...
