First Crusade

The armies of the First Crusade besiege Jerusalem, but fail to capture it. They are decimated by disease and famine and are finally defeated by a relieving army from Egypt. Alexius takes advantage of the situation and easily occupies Antioch. Would this discourage future expeditions?

Not nearly as much as losing earlier. It may discourage some but with Antioch retaken by the Byzantines and thus a decent way station for attacks into levant given to the crusaders and since they came so close the first time there will likely be many who come afterwards to attack, although not in the same numbers.
