Final Frontier of Empires. Not IN SPACE!

I remember reading of how the Kaiser thought that once everyone finished splitting up Samoa that they would need to turn to new places. Latin America and the Ottoman and Chinese empires and the colonies of the Low Countries and Iberia. What would the countries have down with them?

Latin America: No. The Monroe doctrine and the rapprochement between Britain and the US. If the largest navy in the world was willing to support the Americans against other European powers there is no room for any Great Game in Latin America.

The Ottoman Empire was still intact, even though it was crumbling. It would certainly not have been an easy land grab, and if anyone had tried, the Ottomans would have been able to ally other European powers. And the Europeans wouldn't be able to agree how to split it anyways.

China: Well it happened OTL. I don't think it could have gotten any worse for them.

Spanish/ Portuguese/ Dutch/ Belgian colonies: Perhaps. It was the abilities or inabilities of the minor colonial nations to ally with larger powers that decided their fate.

True I should change the question to what the Germans would try to do. Still America kept to North America while doing a dance with the British in South America where the Brits took the indirect sources of income through financing and the Americans bought up all means of producing certain commodities. The Germans did apparently plan things in Venezuala, the Dominican Republic and Colombia. I read that some memo tried to lobby the Colombians to not sell the Americans the land for a canal. Maybe the Germans try for financing an area and stuffing it with Germans? Not agreeing how to split the Ottoman Empire is where it gets interesting.China was not split up totally because people didnt want to loose the influence they had built up and the various things they could not do in their own country. Like opium. I personally dont think that the Chinese cared about opium for how it affected the lower class but more for how it effected trade but that if not the point. Sorry off topic. Do you know of any maps that show the linguistic dialects of China before Mandarin was forced on it all? Where did most of the Chinese leadership go to college outside the country? The multi-century long alliance with England didnt mean squat when it came to the Pink Map. Some think Portugal only joined WWI so that the Entente aka British didnt take their colonies. Plus the British and Germans alreayd planned out that theGermans would get upper and lower Angola and upper Mozambique while the British got central Angola and southern Mozambique to protect the rivers leading into the Boer areas. If the Portuguese fell. Then would Portugal get to keep the rest or would they be allowed the islands west of Africa at the most while the French, Belgian, Indians and Australians took the rest?
