FH: Mark Brandis

A German SF book series.

Earth is divided into two blocks: The EAAU (European-American-African Union), including Russian Siberia and the associated member Australia, with the artificial capital Metropolis (built in the South Atlantic), and the UOR (United Oriental Republics [what, no Japanese emperor?!]), containing the rest of Asia. Capital: Beijing. Besides, there are human settlements on the moon (independent), Venus, Mars and Neptune (EAAU).

During the years that happen in the series, the EAAU government is at least twice toppled by dictators, and the two blocks are at the verge of war. Add diverse natural disasters, inventions man was not meant to make and space adventures.

Anyone know this? How did you like it?

I read them as a kid and i like them.
You read the stories through the eyes of Mark Brandis a space ship captain.
Who works for VEGA (Venus Erde Gesellschaft für Astronautik) some kind of Nasa.
Mark Brandis took part in a lot of special missions during the EAAU civil war.

And no japanese emperor because the capital of the UOR is Bejing, the UOR is not a democracy and india no longer.
The UOR has a larger population than the EAAU but the only space colonies are on venus or mars are part of the EAAU.
Las Vegas is on the moon called Las Lunas.
Later Mark Brandis became the head of a space rescue society.

A nice read for kids and teenagers.
