Female Head of Soviet Union

Okay, this is a serious thread. Namely, I want to examine the effects this would've had on Feminist efforts worldwide(namely because anti-communists may increase sexism immensely from this,) and culturally period.

As for likelyhood, actually decently high. There were lots of women within the Soviet government, so it certainly isn't impossible. Chances are, if the Soviet Union lasted longer, we would've seen it happen.

But anyway, if this were to happen in say... the 60s, who would it be? (Someone she comes to power instead of Nikita Khrushchev. How? I don't know, that's your job.;) )

I had Golda Meir marry Lazar Kaganovich and take over the Soviet Union for two years after his death in a faux biography once. Highly ASB but it ended with her being the head of state (so very little power) until her death after she was sidelined by Malenkov and co.

Ekaterina Furtseva was THE woman in those years. She was quite influent, from what I've read, a conservative (in Soviet terms).
In previous times Russia had swallowed very naturally powerful and often reform-minded tsarinas, but the Soviet Union was such a nasty brutalized society, that for all the Boolshevik rhetoric upon equality of the sexes, it's difficult for me to see a woman in a position of REAL, ULTIMATE power. Especially on the military and the KGB, whereas the party machinery COULD be tamed by some exceptionally strong lady, say a Communist Thatcher. To the price of practical independence, and likely infighting, for the armed forces and the secret police, though.

It would be both interesting, and rather scary, to have a female as the leader of the Soviet Union.

And not just scary-interesting within the confines of Soviet territory and influence.

It would be a very probable scenario, as Stalin was essentially given "Women's work" in the General Secretaryship where he essentially had power dumped on him. He was the guy who did the work so he was the guy who had the authority.

I Can see an alternate universe where a woman is put into that position.

I would predict she would be a lot more ruthless than Stalin in centralizing her authority, but also more inclined to listen to other people and less inclined to make the terrible economic and agricultural mistakes that Stalin did. Stalin had the original planners of the five year plan shot because they wouldn't project bigger gains. I don't see our an average woman being that dumb. Also I don't see a woman buying into Lysenko. And i think the private food production plots would have been about twice the size OTL, resulting in less of a food shortage.

So the result of a female GS. the population is 10% larger, there is more food and USSR is better prepared for hitler.

Rather hopeful, but okay, now just find a woman that could fill the position, and make me a TL.

She would have to be totally fictional. I could start typing on it tonight and put it in the writers section

Or, you could do your own research and take time to do a TL, rather than telling someone else to make you a TL.

Don't mind me, just a thought.

Actually, I'm making a TL with that, however sadly can't find a chick to fulfill the role, so she's nameless in that one.
