FDBWI: Going To See The Beatles Tomorrow

Yep... John, Paul and Ringo, plus surprise guests filling in for the late Mr Harrison, will be playing 5 nights at the Nottingham Arena. And I has tickets :D

Shame cancer took George from us. :(

Rumors are that it'll be either Eric Clapton or Jimi Hendrix on opening night. Either way, I think you're in for a treat.

I'm waiting for when they come to Qwest Field later this year on the World Tour. It's gonna be great.

Personally I'm just glad John and Paul made up after all those years. Paul really helped John get through the tough times after Yoko was shot by Mark Chapman (bloomin' art critics ).

Then again, they are still angered by the Michael Jackson estate which bought the rights to their songs in the 1980s. Ever since 1983, there has been an ongoing feud to recover those song rights.

As for John Lennon, it is sad reminder of the legacy of the Bush/Cheney years, that it was only until President Obama removed his name, Lennon was listed on the "terror list" since 2003...

I saw them at Fenway Park two weeks ago during their US Stadium Tour. They where astounding! They did mostly old stuff from the 60's though they also did a few songs the members did while solo in the 70's like Live and Let Die and Give Peace a Chance. They did a a few tracks from the 80's-today reunion albums as well, but nowhere near as much as the older Beatles stuff. They gave tribute to George with Something, Taxman and Here Comes the Sun. I bet you at Nottingham they will have Clapton come out and do While My Guitar Gently Weeps. I saw them do that in NYC three years ago and it was simply astounding. Special Guest wise we didn't have as many as they do in England shows, they mostly used the guy they picked up after George's death, I can't remember who, but anyway they had Eddie Vedder come out and sing Taxman solo and then Across the Universe and Eleanor Rigby with the band. It was a great show. This is the third time I saw them. The first was in the early 1990's with all of the members and then the last was the NYC show I mentioned. They are great live. They are good for old guys, they played 3 encores! If anyone wants to know, I think I remember the setlist, but I'm too lazy to post it now....

Yeah... John's support for the Palestinians really put a lot of vested interests backs up.
There was also the time back in 1990 when John Lennon tore up the picture of King Charles III on Saturday Night Live (NBC-TV) screaming, "Give Ireland to the Irish!!!" Apparently the British government began a massive tax audit of Lennon's activities until 1995...

You know, they're really quite popular. I take a lot of heat whenever I opine that they may be even "slightly" over-rated. Antics of lead singers aside, I find much of their work inane and less than satisfying. The real drug scene abandoned them years ago, and now it's mostly boomers and their young who flock to these concerts. It's amazing what time does to all things...

Oh, those damn Dinosaurs? I mean come on man, they were bad when they tried all that synth in the 80s, and got worse when they toured with Greenday more recently.

Ok, I agree on the 80's synth stuff, that except for the few hits it sucks, but the tour with Green Day was simply amazing, I saw it! They kicked major ass, both of them, especially when they came out and helped play Hey Jude and I am the Walrus. Maybe its because I love Green Day, but i found it amazing. That was the Garden Show as well where Clapton came out and did While My guitar Gentley Weeps with them for George.

As to the synth, most definitely! I love proper electronica, and their attempt to influence the genre with sheer star power was galling! If they got in a barfight with Kraftwerk, I'd put money on the Krauts.

As to Greenday, well, I've always been of the opinion that entertainers should stick to entertainment unless they have something truly profound to say. Fanclubs and repeating whatever you've just read in the tabloids doesn't quite count, I'd say.

I will, however, be looking forward to the performance at the upcoming London Olympics. Finally, Clapton will be given his proper place in front of those buggers! My only regret is that Elton John passed away last year. Now HE was a legend.

Oh, I agree completely! In fact, I'm a Conservative, I just go to concerts for Music and ignore any stupid ass politics they say. Also though, I like how they have new groups open for them, like how Sublime opened for them during the 1996 tour I saw (odd choice but very fun!) and this tour, at least in America, Cage the Elephant opened.

I caught them back in '92, when Nirvana opened. It was Godly. When Lennon joined them onstage for Smells Like Teen Spirit and then Kurt later returned the favor on Helter Skelter, oh man you shoulda been there. "I GOT BLISTERS ON MAH FINGAZ" indeed.

That must have been epic! I still like the time when John came out and did Smoke Two Joints with Bradley Nowell though, and when Paul and Eric Wilson had a Bass Duel in the beginning of Date Rape. Also, Bradley came out later and joined all four Beatles in The End solos while Eric Wilson and Bug Gaugh did the rhythm. Simply awesome.

I caught that show too! Did you ever get the live album of that? I remember when it came out, I was in Sendai at the time and I actually picked up the Japanese limited edition Gold Audiophile SACD in 5.1. I had no idea what I was getting into but oh I soon found out! People have offered me absolutely insane sums for that thing, just so they can try to sell it on ebay - where they would get quite the pretty penny for it since it's long out of print. Me, I ain't never sellin', :p I just ripped the tunes and roll 'em on my iPod. The disk itself sits snug in my safe deposit box. :D

Wow that sounds amazing! I bought a cd but nothing special, just the Double CD concert. I'm actually recorded on it. When Lennon started preaching about the Palestinians i yelled at him to "Cut the Shit and play Come Together". Funny because it worked and he sang it very angrily i noticed....:p
