As Alternatehistorybuff5341's thread, except that due to the early POD, you are allowed to create characters from the 13th century onward. This is a world where Holy Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa didn't drown.

Michael XIII Romanov, Roman Emperor (1861-1918, reigned 1881-1918)

Michael XIII Romanov was the last Emperor of the Basileion ton Rhomaion to wield absolute power. He ruled from Ethiopia to Croatia, from Mesopotamia to Tunisia. However, such a large empire meant that it was fraught with nationalistic revolts, and in 1918, the Basileion battered by years of constant war (first against Persia and the United Crown, then fighting against the Holy Roman Empire), he relinquished power, abdicating and establishing a constitution for his son, Michael XIV, to rule by. He died of complications from illness, three months later.

August Wilhelm Von Erzengel, Holy Roman Emperor, Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, etc. (1906-1945, reigned 1924-1945)

August Wilhelm Von Erzengel was Holy Roman Emperor from 1924 to 1945, during the key phases of the Long War (1915-1950), in which he was one of the key leaders against the Russian Empire (which lasted from 1871 to 1950, being replaced by the Russian Union State at the treaty that concluded the Long War). He was a Constitutional Monarch, and oversaw the technological development of the Long War, which began with trenches and cavalry charges and ended with atom bombs.
