Fallout of Harold Godwinson Winning Hastings

Assuming Harold Godwinson wins at Hastings (there's any number of PoDs that will do really) what would be the most immediate ripple effects? Would the Duchy of Normandy survive if William is killed in battle and most of his army is destroyed or captured? What impact does this have on Irish history in the immediate following decades?

1) Yes. William has an heir and the Norman nobility is weakened, so their ability to take advantage of Robert being underaged is pretty minimal.

2) Not very much.

In general, we don't see the Domesday Book, we don't see the harrying of the North, Margaret of Wessex probably doesn't marry King Malcolm, and Anglo-Saxon exiles don't join the Varanagian Guard.

One could look at Zirantun's William will Always be a Bastard ATL for inspiration; Zirantun however is banned from the site.

How does Anglo-Saxon exiles joining the Varangian Guard really help the Byzantines though?

Good soldiers are not a commodity Byzantium had a surplus of in the late 11th century.

I don't think it made a substantial difference, but if we're listing the fallout, that these Englishmen are staying in England certainly is a something.
